In the United States, an Accredited Investor has a net worth (either individually or jointly with his or her spouse) that equals or exceeds $1 million or has income in excess of $200,000 in each of the 2 most recent years and reasonably expects an income in excess of $200,000 in current year (or $300,000, jointly with his/her spouse).
